GEPCO Unit Rates & Tariff Guide 2026

Residential Tariffs (Single Phase, Unprotected)

For standard domestic users, NEPRA sets prices in escalating "slabs". The more units you consume, the higher the rate you pay per unit. Approximate base rates (excluding taxes):

  • 1 to 100 units: ~Rs. 22.44 per unit
  • 101 to 200 units: ~Rs. 30.00 per unit
  • 201 to 300 units: ~Rs. 35.00 per unit
  • 301 to 400 units: ~Rs. 40.00 per unit
  • 401+ units: ~Rs. 50.00+ per unit

*Note: Values are estimated proxies for current base tariffs and are subject to frequent NEPRA updates.

Residential Time Of Use (3-Phase Peak / Off-Peak)

If you have a sanctioned load above 5kW (a 3-Phase meter), you are billed on a Time of Use (TOU) basis rather than standard slabs. This penalizes usage during high-demand evening hours.

  • Peak Hours: ~Rs. 47.69 per unit (usually 6 PM to 10 PM).
  • Off-Peak Hours: ~Rs. 42.79 per unit for the remaining 20 hours.

Commercial Connections

Commercial rates for shops and businesses do not follow the standard residential slabs. They are charged at a much higher flat block rate proxy (approximately ~Rs. 38.00 to 40.00 per unit base rate) to accommodate energy-intensive operations.

Understanding Taxes & Surcharges

The base rates alone do not equal your final bill. The government applies multiple mandatory charges including an 18% General Sales Tax (GST), a deeply fluctuating Fuel Price Adjustment (FPA), Financing Surcharges, and a flat Rs. 35 PTV Fee. Generally, you can expect taxes and surcharges to add approximately 22% to 25% onto your base electricity cost.
